A tragic road accident in Bihar's Gopalganj district claimed the life of a bus driver and left approximately a dozen passengers injured in the early hours of Thursday. The fatal incident involved a head-on collision between a passenger bus and a truck.

Details of the Gopalganj Accident

The collision occurred near Chanave village, within the jurisdiction of the Thawe police station. According to preliminary information, the accident took place when a bus en route from Siwan to Bettiah allegedly lost control while attempting to overtake another vehicle. It subsequently crashed into an oncoming truck travelling from Mirganj.

The impact of the crash was severe, resulting in the immediate death of the bus driver, identified as 35-year-old Pappu Yadav. A resident of Sihorwa village under the Jadopur police station area, Yadav died on the spot. Both the bus and the truck sustained extensive damage in the powerful collision.

Immediate Aftermath and Rescue Efforts

Local police were promptly alerted and reached the accident site soon after the incident. The officers swiftly arranged for the rescue and medical evacuation of the injured passengers. All the injured individuals were shifted to nearby hospitals for urgent medical treatment. The exact number and condition of the injured are being ascertained, with reports indicating around a dozen people suffered injuries.
