Fadnavis Urges BJP Corporators to Work Transparently, Retain Public Trust in Pune
Fadnavis to BJP Corporators: Work Transparently, Retain Pune's Trust

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis delivered a strong message to newly elected BJP corporators in Pune on Saturday. He urged them to adopt transparent practices and work diligently. The goal is to transform the Pune Municipal Corporation into the nation's finest local governing body.

High-Handedness Will Not Be Tolerated

Fadnavis made it clear that any form of high-handed behavior from the corporators would not be acceptable. He stressed the importance of resolving citizen issues with honesty and integrity. The chief minister addressed the gathering at a five-star hotel in the city.

Key Attendees at the Meeting

Most of the newly elected BJP corporators attended this important meeting. Pune MP Muralidhar Mohol joined the session. State cabinet ministers Chandrakant Patil and Madhuri Misal were also present. Several MLAs from the city participated in the discussions.

BJP's Thumping Victory in Pune

Fadnavis acknowledged the pre-election speculations about BJP's performance. Many political observers predicted a tight contest in Pune. However, the party secured a decisive victory as city residents overwhelmingly supported BJP candidates.

The chief minister reminded corporators about their responsibility to justify this public trust. BJP retained control of the Pune Municipal Corporation with an impressive 119 seats. This represents a significant gain of 21 seats compared to their 2017 tally out of 165 total seats.

Attributing Success to Grassroots Efforts

Fadnavis credited this positive outcome to the relentless efforts of corporators and their dedicated workers. He emphasized that the victory reflects public endorsement of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's development agenda. The people of Pune have clearly expressed their preference through this electoral mandate.

Avoiding Internal Differences

The chief minister appealed to all corporators to refrain from disputes over various positions within PMC. This includes potential conflicts regarding the mayor's post and committee memberships. He described the current mandate as both gratifying and carrying substantial responsibility.

Fadnavis warned that losing public trust could cause this mandate to disappear like a receding wave. He called for strategic planning of development work for the next five years. Fulfilling public expectations must remain the top priority for all elected representatives.

No Room for Commission Business

The chief minister delivered a stern warning about municipal governance. He declared that the corporation should never become a platform for commission-based business activities. Fadnavis stated unequivocally that mismanagement would not be tolerated regardless of an individual's position or influence.

This meeting set the tone for BJP's governance approach in Pune. The emphasis remains on transparent administration, public service, and maintaining the trust that voters have placed in the party.
