Fadnavis Assures APMC Vashi Stays, Announces Navi Mumbai Airport Name & Key Projects
Fadnavis: APMC Vashi Stays, Airport Named After D B Patil

Navi Mumbai's APMC Market to Stay Put with Modernization Plan

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis made a clear announcement on Monday. He spoke at a BJP election rally in Airoli. The sprawling Agricultural Produce Market Committee at Vashi will not shift to a new location. Instead, it will undergo a major redevelopment and modernization process.

Fadnavis urged citizens not to believe any rumors about the wholesale market yard moving far away within the Mumbai Metropolitan Region. He emphasized the government's commitment to upgrading the existing facility.

Navi Mumbai International Airport to Honor Local Leader

The Chief Minister revealed an important decision about the upcoming Navi Mumbai International Airport. It will be named after the late D B Patil. Patil was a prominent PAP leader and a respected son of the soil.

Fadnavis cited strong local sentiment behind this choice. He noted that the airport is being developed on land voluntarily surrendered by villagers from the area. This naming honors their contribution and the leader's legacy.

Major Infrastructure and Water Projects Announced

Fadnavis outlined several key infrastructure initiatives for the region's future growth. He mentioned the proposed Poshir dam on the outskirts of Navi Mumbai. This dam is expected to supply approximately one thousand million litres of water per day.

This substantial water supply will cater directly to Navi Mumbai's future needs. It aims to ensure water security as the city expands.

The government has allocated seven hundred and fifty crore rupees for a critical traffic project. This funding is for the expansion of the Kalamboli junction. The goal is to decongest heavy traffic in this vital area.

Kalamboli junction serves as a major merging point for several important highways and expressways. These include the Mumbai-Pune Expressway, Sion-Panvel Highway, Atal Setu, the upcoming NMIA, JNPA-Panvel Highway, and the Mumbai-Goa Highway.

Transport Corridors and Policy Updates

Work on the Virar-Alibaug corridor project will commence very soon according to the Chief Minister. He also confirmed plans to integrate the Navi Mumbai and Mumbai Metro corridors. This integration promises seamless travel for commuters across the metropolitan region.

Fadnavis praised Forest Minister Ganesh Naik during his address. He announced that Naik's long-pending demand regarding land conversion would be met. The process to convert leasehold land to freehold will happen shortly.

This change will grant leaseholders full property ownership rights. It is a significant policy shift for many residents.

The Chief Minister made a firm commitment about the Laadki Bahini scheme. He declared that this initiative will continue for as long as he remains the Chief Minister of Maharashtra.

He promised continued government support to help sisters under this scheme achieve financial independence. The aim is to assist them in becoming lakhpatis through sustained backing and opportunities.
