Daltonganj: An elderly Mahadalit man was discovered murdered in an agricultural field near his residence at Karar village in Palamu district on Wednesday, according to police reports. The officer in charge of Panki police station, Deepak Kumar Singh, provided details of the incident to the press.

Discovery of the Body

The deceased has been identified as Dhanraj Bhuiyan, a resident of Nadgarh hamlet. His body was first noticed by the village chowkidar, who promptly alerted the local police. Upon arrival, officers observed that the body bore visible marks consistent with lathi blows.

Background of the Victim

According to villagers, Dhanraj owned approximately 14 decimals of agricultural land. He had been living alone following the death of his wife, and his children are said to have abandoned him, leaving him without immediate family support.

Investigation and Post-Mortem

Following the discovery, the body was transported to Medininagar Medical College and Hospital (MMCH) in Daltonganj for a post-mortem examination. Police have initiated an investigation into the murder, with a focus on identifying the perpetrators and determining the motive behind the attack.
