DMK and AIADMK Candidates Launch Campaigns in Trichy and Madurai
Candidates from the DMK and AIADMK have officially commenced their campaigns for the upcoming assembly elections in the Trichy and Madurai regions. The campaigns began on Sunday with candidates paying floral tributes to party leaders, ideologues, and late family members, while also reaching out to influential figures in their constituencies to garner support.
DMK Campaign Activities in Trichy
In Trichy, DMK principal secretary and Trichy West candidate K N Nehru started his campaign on a sentimental note by garlanding the memorial of his late younger brother, K N Ramajeyam, on his 14th death anniversary at a private college. Nehru met with VIPs in the constituency, including entrepreneurs, and held a review meeting with party workers to finalize a campaign schedule. He confidently stated, "DMK will sweep all 41 assembly segments in delta districts to play a significant role in the return to power."
School Education Minister Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi, who is recontesting in Thiruverumbur, began his campaign by garlanding the Anna statue in Bhel near Thuvakudi. He also paid floral tributes to statues of former Chief Minister M Karunanidhi. Anbil Mahesh emphasized, "Trichy is DMK's fort, and you will realise it on May 4, during the counting of votes. Welfare schemes and brand 'Stalin' are our strengths."
Trichy East DMK candidate Inigo Irudayaraj, an MLA, launched his campaign from the Kalaignar statue at TVS tollgate. He is set to face TVK leader Vijay and told reporters that he aims to retain the segment by a margin of 1 lakh votes. Inigo challenged his opponent, saying, "Vijay lacks courage, has any party leader ever contested in two segments? I dare him to contest in Trichy East alone, leaving Perambur. He cannot deceive Christians with faith as a tool."
AIADMK Campaign Initiatives in Trichy
AIADMK candidates for Srirangam and Trichy East, R Manoharan and K Rajashekaran, also launched their campaigns by opening an election office in Srirangam and garlanding the MGR statue in Cantonment. These activities mark the beginning of their efforts to secure voter support in the region.
Campaign Developments in Madurai
In Madurai, DMK candidate for Thirumangalam constituency, M Manimaran, started his campaign after paying homage at his father Sedapatti Muthiah's resting place in Muthappanpatti. Meanwhile, Madurai East constituency DMK candidate and minister P Moorthy inaugurated his election office at Othakadai.
On the AIADMK side, candidate for Thirumangalam constituency, R B Udhayakumar, is scheduled to start his campaign on Monday. In Madurai West, AIADMK's Sellur Raju will begin his campaign on April 1. These moves highlight the competitive nature of the election as both parties ramp up their outreach efforts.
The campaigns are expected to intensify in the coming weeks, with candidates focusing on voter engagement and highlighting their party's achievements and promises. The election outcomes in these key regions could significantly impact the overall political landscape in the state.
