Delhi BJP Government to Celebrate First Anniversary with Public Event and Welfare Initiatives
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in Delhi, under the leadership of Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, is preparing to commemorate its first year in office with a series of public events. Officials revealed on Wednesday that the celebrations will include a major public gathering where the government will present a detailed report card of its accomplishments and unveil new welfare projects.
Anniversary Celebrations to Span Multiple Days
The festivities marking the government's first anniversary are scheduled to commence on February 8, which coincides with the date when the election results were announced last year. The highlight of the celebrations will be a public event around February 20, the exact date when Gupta assumed office after the BJP's decisive victory in the Assembly polls. This event is expected to be attended by several Union ministers, adding significance to the occasion.
Gupta took charge as the chief minister at a grand ceremony held at Ramlila Maidan on February 20 last year, ending the Aam Aadmi Party's (AAP) decade-long rule in the capital. The upcoming event aims to reflect on the journey since that historic moment.
Showcasing Achievements and Launching New Initiatives
During the anniversary event, the government plans to highlight its various achievements over the past year. According to officials, this will include a comprehensive presentation of completed projects and fulfilled promises from the election manifesto. Additionally, the government may launch new welfare initiatives and projects on this occasion, furthering its commitment to public service.
One of the key early decisions of the Gupta-led government was the implementation of the Ayushman Bharat health scheme in Delhi, which had previously been stalled. This move fulfilled a major poll promise and set the tone for subsequent welfare measures.
Key Welfare Measures Implemented
The Delhi government has made significant strides in fulfilling its election promises, including:
- Opening Ayushman Arogya Mandir health clinics to improve healthcare access.
- Providing free health coverage to elderly citizens under the Vaya Vandana Yojna.
- Establishing Atal canteens that offer meals to needy individuals at a subsidized rate of Rs 5 per person.
In a recent development, Chief Minister Gupta announced on Tuesday that all ration card-holding families in Delhi will receive financial assistance equivalent to the cost of two LPG cylinders per year. This benefit will be provided on the occasions of Holi and Diwali, with Rs 853 (the cost of an LPG cylinder) transferred directly to eligible beneficiaries through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system, as decided in a Cabinet meeting chaired by Gupta.
Building on Previous Milestones
This anniversary event follows Gupta's earlier presentation of a report card titled '100 Din Sewa Ke' in May last year, which marked 100 days of the BJP government in office. The upcoming celebrations aim to build on that momentum, showcasing a year of governance focused on development and public welfare.
As the government prepares for these events, it emphasizes its dedication to transparency and accountability, inviting public participation in reviewing its performance and future plans.
