CPM Faces Allegations of Fraud and Political Exploitation in Global Ayyappa Sangamam
In a scathing critique, Opposition leader V D Satheesan has leveled serious accusations against the Communist Party of India (Marxist) for allegedly engaging in fraudulent activities under the guise of the Global Ayyappa Sangamam event. Speaking in Kochi, Satheesan asserted that the CPM made substantial profits through deceit and deception, only to later wash their hands of the scandal while leveraging the situation politically across Kerala with widespread posters.
Government's Role Questioned in Financial Mismanagement
Satheesan pointedly questioned the government's involvement, highlighting that the devaswom minister has claimed ignorance regarding who took the money from the Ayyappa conclave. "The government was at the forefront of organizing the meeting," he stated. "If the government wasn't involved, why were there hoardings featuring the chief minister's picture all over Kerala? Is there no connection between the devaswom board and the government?" These remarks underscore growing concerns about transparency and accountability in the event's financial dealings.
Links to Sabarimala Gold Heist and CPM Appointments
Further intensifying his allegations, Satheesan referenced the Sabarimala gold heist, noting that three CPM leaders are currently in jail for their involvement. He emphasized that the CPM appointed A Padmakumar, N Vasu, and P S Prasanth to the Travancore Devaswom Board, suggesting that individuals outside the board could not have smuggled the gold. "The CPM is trying to find someone to blame because they got caught," Satheesan declared, implying a pattern of evasion and scapegoating within the party.
Political Connections and Public Perception
Satheesan also drew attention to the political connections of those involved, mentioning that a search for Unnikrishnan Potti's picture reveals it alongside Pinarayi Vijayan. This observation aims to highlight the close ties between the accused and top CPM leadership, fueling speculation about potential collusion or oversight in the alleged fraud. The opposition leader's statements reflect a broader narrative of political exploitation, where public events are used for partisan gain while financial irregularities are swept under the rug.
As the controversy unfolds, these allegations pose significant challenges for the CPM, raising questions about governance and ethical conduct in Kerala's political landscape. The public awaits further investigations and responses from the accused parties to clarify these serious claims.
