Congress MLA Rajagopal Reddy Slams Party Government Over Budget Allocation Disparities

Congress leader and Munugode MLA Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy launched a sharp critique against his own party's government in Telangana during Sunday's assembly discussion on budget allocations for education, irrigation, and other key departments. The MLA expressed frustration over what he described as unequal distribution of financial resources, claiming party MLAs are not receiving adequate funds for their constituencies while ministers' areas receive preferential treatment.

Allegations of Unequal Resource Distribution

Rajagopal Reddy asserted that government resources should not be confined to a select few constituencies and questioned whether ordinary MLAs must depend on ministers to secure necessary funds for their areas. He emphasized that financial support appears largely directed toward constituencies represented by ministers, creating an imbalance in development opportunities across the state.

The MLA specifically highlighted concerns about regional disparities, stating there should be no discrimination in resource allocation between north and south Telangana. Regarding Khammam district, he noted it has three ministers and suggested many government benefits appear concentrated in that region, raising questions about equitable distribution across the state.

Development Concerns and Historical Comparisons

Rajagopal Reddy further remarked that while Chief Minister Revanth Reddy was focused on developing Kodangal, other MLAs were struggling to develop their own constituencies. He stated Munugode would be developed when Congress returns to power but added there was currently a lack of cooperation from the government.

The MLA also made serious allegations about assistance being diverted to Huzurnagar, represented by Uttam Kumar Reddy, and accused the current government of poor resource management. In contrast, he praised the previous Congress government for what he described as more disciplined governance and better decision-making processes.

Specific Infrastructure and Health Issues

Regarding local development, Rajagopal Reddy highlighted several incomplete irrigation projects affecting his constituency. "Several irrigation projects, like Dindi, were not completed for Munugode, despite the reservoir work being completed," he stated during the assembly discussion.

The MLA also raised serious health concerns, noting that "our assembly constituency has the highest fluoride levels in the world, our people are looking at us with hope." While acknowledging that the Congress government is more transparent than the previous BRS tenure, he urged the administration to look at all constituencies equally and address pressing issues affecting his constituents.

Advice to Brother and Government Officials

In a notable moment, Rajagopal Reddy addressed his brother, Roads and Buildings Minister Venkat Reddy, during the discussion. He praised the HAM road project and acknowledged tenders had been called for several packages but urged caution in implementation.

"Contractors will exploit the bill without independent engineering experts simultaneously assessing the projects. I have this experience. I appeal to my brother to look into this aspect. He should take my suggestions, too," the MLA advised, drawing from his personal experience with infrastructure projects.

The criticism from within the party ranks highlights ongoing tensions within the Congress government in Telangana regarding resource allocation and development priorities, with MLAs expressing concerns about equitable distribution of funds and attention across all constituencies.
