Rajasthan Congress Accuses BJP of Voter List Manipulation in Special Revision
Congress Alleges BJP Orchestrated Voter Deletion in Rajasthan

Congress Levels Serious Allegations Against BJP Over Voter List Revision

Rajasthan Congress leaders have made explosive allegations against the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party. They claim the BJP orchestrated a systematic effort to manipulate voter lists during the ongoing Special Intensive Revision exercise.

Press Conference Revelations in Jaipur

At a press conference held at the State Congress headquarters in Jaipur, Rajasthan Pradesh Congress Committee president Govind Singh Dotasra and Leader of the Opposition Tikaram Jully presented their case. They accused the BJP of submitting thousands of bulk, pre-printed applications overnight for voter deletions.

Dotasra described this as a direct attack on democracy and the fundamental right to vote. The allegations come at a critical time when officials are conducting hearings under the Special Intensive Revision before final rolls publish in February.

Questioning the Timing and Process

"Nearly three years remain for the next Rajasthan Assembly elections," Dotasra stated. "A Special Intensive Revision of the voter list is already underway despite no mandatory requirement for it."

He argued this process has already delayed elections to Panchayati Raj institutions and urban local bodies. Dotasra expressed concern that even after this exercise, polls will be conducted using what he called an inaccurate and fraudulent voter list.

Alleged BJP Coordination and Strategy

The Congress president made several specific allegations about BJP activities:

  • BJP's Rajasthan in-charge B L Santosh held closed-door organisational meetings
  • Instructions were issued to party leaders on how to proceed with the SIR
  • Union Home Minister Amit Shah held a four-hour meeting with BJP leaders in the state
  • Data was distributed on pen drives from the Chief Minister's Office to BJP leaders

Dotasra claimed the Congress party cooperated fully with the Election Commission throughout the SIR process. However, he alleged that on the final day for filing objections, the BJP initiated what he called a coordinated and illegal exercise to manipulate the voter list.

Mass Deletion Applications and Targeting

According to Dotasra, the BJP began submitting thousands of pre-printed forms in bulk across constituencies for name deletions. He claimed many forms carried forged or mismatched signatures and lacked signatures of Booth Level Agents altogether.

These forms were allegedly prepared by a centralised agency in violation of prescribed rules. They were submitted a day before the draft voter list was to be published, with the apparent intent of removing names of Congress voters.

Statistical Evidence Presented

The Congress leader presented data uploaded by the Chief Electoral Officer till January 14, 2026:

  1. Approximately 973 BJP BLAs sought addition of 211 names and deletion of 5,694 names
  2. Only 110 Congress BLAs sought addition of 185 names and deletion of just two names

Dotasra highlighted that election rules allow a BLA to submit only 50 applications per day for name deletions and only 10 applications after draft publication.

Targeted Constituencies and Methods

The Congress president made further specific allegations:

  • On January 13 evening, BJP leaders distributed pen drives to MLAs and ministers containing deletion applications
  • Targeted constituencies included those where Congress had narrow victories
  • Areas with strong Congress vote bases among Dalit, tribal and minority communities were targeted
  • Constituencies where BJP itself won by slim margins also received attention

"In several Assembly constituencies, between 2,000 and 4,000 pre-printed forms were allegedly submitted on a single day by one person," Dotasra claimed.

Broader Strategy Allegations

Dotasra further claimed the BJP's central leadership engaged private companies to collect data on specific groups:

  • Congress supporters
  • Critics of BJP policies
  • Participants in movements such as protests to save the Aravalli range
  • Rajiv Gandhi Yuva Mitra associates
  • Employee organisations

Applications were then allegedly filed to remove these individuals from the voter list. Dotasra also claimed pressure was being exerted on Booth Level Officers and other officials to accept these forms despite clear violations of Form-7 requirements.

Booth-Level Manipulation Claims

The Congress president made one of his most serious allegations regarding booth-level activities. He claimed BJP leaders fixed targets to add 50 names per booth, even if they were duplicate entries. Simultaneously, they allegedly worked to delete names linked to the Congress vote bank.

These allegations come at a sensitive political juncture in Rajasthan. The Congress has positioned this as a fundamental democratic issue affecting the rights of voters across the state.
