Coimbatore Liquor Outlets to Stay Shut on Friday for Thiruvalluvar Day

The Coimbatore district administration has announced a complete closure of all liquor-selling establishments in the city this Friday. This shutdown coincides with Thiruvalluvar Day, a significant observance in Tamil Nadu.

Official Order Details the Closure

In a formal press release, authorities specified that the closure order applies to every licensed liquor premise. This includes all government-run Tasmac shops and standard bars categorized under FL1.

The ban extends further to bars operating within recreational clubs, which fall under the FL2 license. Even upscale venues are not exempt. Bars located inside star hotels, classified as FL3, must also remain closed.

The administration has also included Tamil Nadu Hotels with FL3A licenses and bars managed by the state tourism department under FL3AA. Additionally, outlets specializing in the sale of imported foreign liquor, known as FL11 shops, are part of this mandatory closure.

Strict Action Promised for Violations

The district administration has issued a clear warning regarding the enforcement of this order. Officials stated that strict legal action will be taken against any individual or establishment found selling liquor on Friday, January 16.

This measure ensures the day is observed respectfully across Coimbatore. The closure affects a wide range of businesses, from local Tasmac shops to high-end hotel bars, highlighting the administration's comprehensive approach.

Residents and visitors in Coimbatore should plan accordingly, as no legal liquor will be available for purchase within the city limits on that specific date.
