Hyderabad: The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) has demanded that the state government protect eight acres of government land worth Rs 500 crore in the Bowenpally-Cantonment areas. BRS leader Krishank alleged that a private firm erected blue sheets on the land overnight. He urged the government to disclose all records related to the land and any permissions granted, and to take steps to safeguard the property.
Krishank asked the government to construct 6,000 Indiramma Houses on the site as originally proposed and promised by the Congress government. “In 2025, the Congress government itself identified this very 8-acre parcel of land in Bowenpally-Cantonment for the construction of 6,000 Indiramma houses. At that time, the local MLA Ganesh submitted representations to ministers Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy and Seethakka, requesting that the proposed housing project be taken up on this government land,” he said.
However, the same land has reportedly been fenced overnight with blue-sheet barricades, and private individuals have taken possession of the property. Krishank questioned how the present Congress government allowed land that it officially recognized as government property barely a year ago to pass into private hands, if the previous government had protected this valuable public asset.
A comprehensive investigation must be ordered to determine how this land changed hands, identify those responsible, and ascertain whether there was any misuse of official authority. The state government should go to the Supreme Court to protect the land, he said.
