The body of a 55-year-old man was pulled from the Nagdi River in Rajasthan's Bhilwara district on Thursday morning, sending shockwaves through the local community. The deceased was identified as Umar Mohammad, the younger brother of Congress city president Sadiq Pathan.
Discovery and Recovery of the Body
According to Jahazpur police station officer Rajkumar Gayak, authorities received information early in the morning about a body seen floating in the water. The location was near the Nagdi Dam, close to Jahazpur town. A police team rushed to the spot immediately.
Upon arrival, officers found a damaged motorcycle lying on the road along the river bank. With assistance from local residents, the police successfully retrieved the body from the river. The deceased, Umar Mohammad, was a familiar face in the area, known for running a tea stall near the Jahazpur court.
Police Investigation Underway
The police used the registration number on the recovered motorcycle to formally identify the victim. The body was then transported to the mortuary of the Jahazpur Community Health Centre for a postmortem examination.
Officer Gayak stated that the investigation is currently exploring all possible angles. Police are probing whether Mohammad fell into the river accidentally, was pushed, or died by suicide. The exact cause and circumstances leading to his death remain unclear as the inquiry continues.
Postmortem and Handing Over of the Body
The postmortem procedure was conducted only after the arrival of Umar Mohammad's family members. Following the necessary formalities, the police handed over the body to the grieving family for last rites.
