A BMTC public bus collided with a compound wall near Manekshaw Parade Ground in Bengaluru on Saturday, leaving three passengers with minor injuries. The incident occurred when the driver lost control while navigating a turn, according to police officials.
Details of the Accident
The bus was traveling along its regular route when the driver attempted to negotiate a sharp bend. Witnesses reported that the vehicle swerved abruptly before crashing into the wall. The sudden impact caused passengers to lurch forward, resulting in minor bruises and cuts.
Police arrived at the scene shortly after the mishap. Preliminary investigations suggest that the driver applied the brakes suddenly, which led to the loss of control. However, authorities are examining whether excessive speed or mechanical failure played a role.
Injuries and Response
Three passengers sustained minor injuries and were treated at a nearby hospital. None of the injuries are considered serious, and all affected individuals have been discharged. The bus driver also escaped unhurt.
Traffic on the road was briefly disrupted as the damaged bus was towed away. The compound wall sustained significant damage, and repairs are underway.
Ongoing Investigation
Bengaluru police have registered a case and are conducting a detailed investigation. They are reviewing CCTV footage from the area to ascertain the exact cause. A statement from the BMTC is awaited.
