BJP State President Accuses SIT of Using Sabarimala Tanthri Arrest to Protect Former Minister
In a significant political development in Thiruvananthapuram, BJP state president Rajeev Chandrasekhar made serious allegations on Saturday regarding the ongoing investigation into the Sabarimala gold heist case. Chandrasekhar claimed that the Special Investigation Team (SIT) deliberately arrested Sabarimala tanthri (chief priest) Kadararu Rajeevaru without substantial evidence as a strategic move to shield former devaswom minister Kadakampally Surendran from involvement in the high-profile temple theft case.
"Arrest Without Evidence Was a Deflection Tactic"
"The tanthri was arrested without a trace of evidence against him. The court itself acknowledged this fact," Chandrasekhar stated emphatically during his address. "This entire episode was orchestrated as a dramatic diversion to shift public attention away from former devaswom minister Kadakampally Surendran and the current devaswom minister V N Vasavan."
The BJP leader further elaborated that following the tanthri's arrest, there has been a conspicuous silence regarding the potential roles of both Kadakampally Surendran and V N Vasavan in the gold heist investigation. Chandrasekhar asserted that the BJP would maintain relentless pressure to ensure that Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan cannot provide protection to those allegedly involved in stealing gold from the sacred Sabarimala temple.
Multiple Allegations Against Kerala Government
Expanding his criticism beyond the Sabarimala case, Chandrasekhar also demanded the immediate resignation of Health Minister Veena George. He cited what he described as alarming medical negligence in Kerala's government hospitals.
"Kerala stands as the only state in India where surgical scissors have been discovered inside patients' abdomens following operations in government hospitals," Chandrasekhar declared. "The CPM government, which frequently boasts about the celebrated Kerala development model, must provide transparent answers about this deeply concerning situation that compromises patient safety."
The BJP state president's allegations come at a time when the Sabarimala gold heist case has already generated substantial political controversy in Kerala. The theft from one of India's most revered Hindu temples has raised questions about security protocols and administrative oversight within the temple's management structure.
