BJP Predicts 120-125 Seats in Pune Civic Polls

BJP Eyes Strong Victory in Pune Civic Elections

Union Minister Muralidhar Mohol made a bold prediction on Tuesday. The Pune MP stated that the Bharatiya Janata Party will secure 120 to 125 seats in the upcoming Pune Municipal Corporation elections. He expressed strong confidence that the party will retain power in the civic body.

Development Agenda Takes Center Stage

Mohol emphasized that the BJP is fighting the election battle primarily on the agenda of development. He spoke to media persons just before the campaigning concluded for the January 15 poll. The BJP politician highlighted the overwhelming support residents showed during the campaign period.

"We will once again have a BJP mayor," Mohol declared confidently. He pointed to the advantage of having both the Central and state governments led by the BJP. This alignment, he argued, will enable the party to implement numerous development projects in Pune after the election.

Criticism of Rival Party's Candidate Selection

The Union Minister did not hold back in his criticism of the Nationalist Congress Party. He specifically targeted the Ajit Pawar-led faction for fielding candidates with criminal backgrounds. This sharp criticism came as campaigning reached its final stages.

Strong Candidate Selection Process

The BJP, which is contesting the elections independently, received an impressive response from aspirants. More than 2,300 applications poured in from hopeful candidates. Mohol noted that the party gave fair representation to women while finalizing the candidate list.

An aggressive campaign unfolded over the last fifteen days. The party's city unit and individual candidates worked tirelessly to reach voters. Several prominent leaders participated actively in the campaign efforts.

  • Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis joined the campaign trail
  • State Cabinet Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule contributed to the efforts
  • Union Minister Ramdas Athawale participated in the outreach

The party achieved remarkable reach through its booth-level units. They managed to connect with more than three lakh homes every single day during the campaign period.

Building on Previous Success

The BJP enters this election with a strong track record. In the 2017 PMC elections, the party won 97 out of 165 seats. This historical performance provides a solid foundation for their current campaign. The party now aims to significantly improve upon that previous result.

Mohol's statements reflect the BJP's strategic approach to the Pune municipal elections. They are combining development promises with strong organizational work. The party appears determined to maintain its hold on Pune's civic administration.
