VASAI: BJP Palghar MP Dr Hemant Savara narrowly escaped serious injuries after his car met with an accident in Naigaon on Friday morning, around 7 am. According to Savara, he was travelling from Thane to Palghar to attend a Maharashtra Day-related event when a dumper allegedly rammed into his vehicle, just after crossing the Versova creek bridge (Bhayander creek bridge).
Details of the Incident
The collision was head-on, and the MP sustained only minor scratches. However, his driver suffered a fractured hand and is currently undergoing treatment. Savara stated, “The dumper driver could not spot our car and rammed into us.” He further explained that their vehicle was travelling on the wrong side on the Mumbai-bound lane due to heavy traffic congestion on the Gujarat-bound carriageway.
Aftermath and Response
Local authorities arrived at the scene shortly after the accident. The dumper driver has been taken into custody for questioning. The MP’s vehicle sustained significant damage but Savara continued his journey after receiving first aid. The driver is reported to be in stable condition at a nearby hospital.
This incident highlights the challenges of navigating congested roads during peak hours. Savara appealed to commuters to exercise caution and follow traffic rules to prevent such mishaps.
