Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Member of the Legislative Council (MLC) Hemalatha Nayak launched a sharp critique against the Congress party on Sunday. She strongly condemned remarks made by its leaders regarding recent incidents in Hubballi, Koppal, and Ballari, accusing them of attempting to mislead the public and divert attention from administrative failures.
Congress Accused of Distorting Facts for Political Gain
In a strongly-worded statement, Nayak alleged that the Congress was deliberately distorting facts to gain political mileage. She expressed particular outrage over comments made by Congress leaders concerning the Hubballi women's case. The MLC criticised them for undermining the dignity of women by trivialising the serious issue as merely a "drama".
Nayak stated that such behaviour reflects the party's moral decay, adding that the Congress leadership has consequently forfeited the moral authority to discuss women's safety in the state.
Criticism Over Koppal Chaos and Ballari Incident
Recalling the recent visit of Union Minister of State for Railways, V. Somanna, to Koppal, Nayak described the scene as chaotic. She termed the conduct of District In-charge Minister Shivaraj Tangadagi, MP K. Rajashekar Hitnal, and MLA K. Raghavendra Hitnal as "anarchic" during the minister's tour.
Shifting focus to Ballari, the BJP leader dismissed the Congress's version of events there as vague and misleading. Nayak claimed that investigations into an incident revealed that a Congress leader's gunman had fired at a Congress worker. She alleged that the party was now trying to suppress this fact and instead politicise the issue for its own benefit.
Broader Allegations of Governance Failure
Nayak broadened her attack to criticise the Congress government on several other fronts. She labelled the state's guarantee schemes as a failure and referred to the Inam Veerapur incident as heinous. Further, she described the Ranjitha murder case in Yallapur as a case of "love jihad".
The BJP MLC also expressed serious concern over the rising menace of drug trafficking in Karnataka, holding the state government responsible for the deteriorating situation.
"Taking all these incidents into account, it is clear that the home minister has completely failed," Nayak asserted. "The Congress government has utterly failed to maintain law and order, and the people of the state will soon give an appropriate response," she concluded, hinting at political repercussions in the future.
