BJP Invites Locals to PM Modi's Malda Rally, Promises Projects

BJP Leaders Actively Campaign for PM Modi's Malda Rally

Days before Prime Minister Narendra Modi's scheduled rally in Malda on January 17, BJP leaders in West Bengal have sprung into action. They started sending invitation letters to local residents on Tuesday. Senior state BJP figures have also launched campaigns across north Bengal to highlight centrally sponsored projects.

Direct Outreach to Voters

Malda North MP Khagen Murmu personally reached out to voters on Tuesday. He urged them to attend Modi's rally. "We began our program from the Sahapur area, where PM Modi will address the gathering," Murmu stated. "People are suffering under Trinamool's misgovernance. Modi will speak at the 'Parivartan Sankalpa' rally to address their concerns. We expect lakhs of people to join us."

Promises of Development and New Trains

BJP leaders indicated that PM Modi will flag off several new trains during his visit. He is also likely to announce additional projects for north Bengal. Alipurduar BJP MP Manoj Tigga shared details. "A bunch of new trains will be flagged off, with Alipurduar as one beneficiary," Tigga explained. "Some trains will connect to southern India. This will boost tourism in north Bengal. Local products like mangoes and handicrafts will gain access to new markets."

Challenges with State Government Cooperation

Tigga pointed out ongoing issues with project implementation. He cited the Kamakhyaguri flyover as an example. "Several projects in north Bengal are stuck due to non-cooperation from the state government," he said. "In some projects, the state must participate and share costs. After NDA came to power, the Centre began bearing the full financial burden. However, the state government needs to provide land, and it remains unwilling."

Upcoming Healthcare Initiative

Tigga also revealed plans for a healthcare facility. "A super-specialty hospital on railway premises will be inaugurated soon in Alipurduar," he announced. This project aims to enhance medical services in the region.

The BJP's efforts underscore a focused push to galvanize support in north Bengal ahead of the Prime Minister's visit.
