Bihar Government Sanctions Rs 46.34 Crore for Police Infrastructure Modernisation
In a significant move to bolster law and order and modernise the police force across Bihar, Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister Samrat Choudhary announced on Saturday the administrative approval for the construction of new police station buildings in four districts and a new office building for the Superintendent of Police in Begusarai. The total financial sanction for these five crucial projects stands at an impressive Rs 46.34 crore, reflecting the state government's commitment to upgrading policing infrastructure.
Details of the Approved Police Station Projects
The approved schemes include the construction of modern G+3 police station buildings in East Champaran, Araria, Saran, and Kishanganj districts, along with a new G+3 office complex for the SP in Begusarai. Each police station building will be equipped with essential facilities designed to enhance operational efficiency. These facilities encompass spacious work areas, police barracks, residential accommodation for personnel, outhouses, furniture, and other basic infrastructure required for the smooth and effective functioning of law enforcement agencies.
District-Wise Breakdown of Costs and Locations
East Champaran: The new building will be constructed at the Chatauni police station premises, with an estimated cost of Rs 11.4 crore. Araria District: A similar modern structure will be erected at Narpatganj police station, allocated Rs 9.05 crore for the project. Saran: The Madhaura police station is set to receive a new building at a cost of Rs 8.63 crore. Kishanganj: The Dighalbank police station has been sanctioned Rs 8.67 crore for its upgraded facility. Separately, Begusarai will get a new G+3 office building for the SP, with an approved budget of Rs 8.53 crore.
Enhanced Working Environment and Public Service Delivery
These newly designed structures are aimed at providing police personnel with a significantly better working environment, which is expected to enable quicker and more effective service delivery to the public. By improving infrastructure, the state government seeks to foster a more professional and responsive police force capable of addressing security challenges with greater efficiency.

Deputy CM Samrat Choudhary emphasised that the state government remains steadfast in its commitment to continuously upgrading police infrastructure as part of a broader effort to make law enforcement more modern, responsive, and capable. He clarified that the proposals originated from the police headquarters and, after undergoing a detailed evaluation process, received administrative clearance. This step is intended to ensure improved resources for officers and enhanced security for citizens across Bihar.
"The execution of these projects is expected to contribute meaningfully to better policing, improved morale among personnel, and a stronger sense of safety among the people of Bihar," Choudhary stated, highlighting the anticipated positive impacts on both the police force and the community.
