The incident occurred on Wednesday in the area of Pabu Nagar, under the jurisdiction of the Shiv police station. Jabar Singh (40), son of Kal Singh and a resident of Pabu Nagar, was riding his motorcycle towards his village when he was struck by a Bolero vehicle belonging to a private company. The company vehicle was coming from the direction of Lakha village.

The impact of the collision was severe. Jabar Singh sustained serious injuries, with both his legs broken. After receiving initial primary treatment, he was referred to Barmer Hospital for further care. Tragically, he succumbed to his injuries during treatment. The police took possession of his body and placed it in the hospital mortuary.

Protest and Negotiations

On Thursday morning, villagers and the family of the deceased gathered outside the hospital mortuary to stage a protest. They demanded financial assistance and justice for the victim's family. The demonstration gained political attention as Shiv MLA Ravindra Singh Bhati and BJP leader Swaroop Singh Khara, along with other local BJP leaders, arrived at the spot and joined the protestors.

The leaders then engaged in detailed talks with officials from the private company, the district administration, and the police. These negotiations resulted in a formal agreement that was acceptable to all parties involved.

The Agreement That Ended the Protest

The management of the private company agreed to a multi-point settlement to support the victim's family and address future safety concerns. The key points of the agreement are:

  • Financial assistance of Rs 35 lakh to the family of Jabar Singh.
  • Provision of a contractual job to one member of the family.
  • Additional financial support from the company's Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) fund.
  • An assurance from the company to implement essential safety measures to prevent similar accidents in the future.

Following the successful negotiation and the company's assurances, the villagers and the family called off their protest. The resolution highlights a community-led effort, supported by local leaders, to secure accountability and support in the wake of a tragic loss.
