Upon spotting the foreign balloon, concerned locals wasted no time. They quickly contacted the Village Defence Party (VDP), a community-based security group. Recognizing the seriousness of the situation, VDP officials promptly informed the police. A police team was immediately dispatched to the rural site.
The situation was significant enough to warrant the attention of Cachar Superintendent of Police Partha Pratim Das, who personally arrived to assess the circumstances. VDP secretary Suman Das described the balloon's contents, noting it featured photographs of three individuals and text written in Bengali. "People called me to inspect it. I immediately informed the police, and in the presence of the SP, the balloon was taken into their custody," Das stated, confirming the sequence of events.
Ongoing Investigation and Regional Sensitivity
The Cachar police have formally initiated an inquiry into the entire incident. While the balloon appears to be linked to a celebratory school event, its journey across the border into Indian territory raises necessary security and procedural questions.
