In a significant development, Minorities Welfare Minister Mohammed Azharuddin on Monday assured a delegation of AIMIM MLAs that a thorough and impartial investigation will be conducted into the recent Banswada violence. The minister emphasized that action would be taken against those responsible for disturbing communal harmony in the area.

Government's Commitment to Peace and Citizen Rights

During the meeting, Azharuddin reiterated the government's unwavering responsibility to maintain peace and protect the rights and properties of all citizens. He stated, "Maintaining peace and safeguarding the interests of every individual is our top priority." This assurance came as the AIMIM delegation, led by Malakpet legislator Ahmed Balala, expressed deep concern over the clashes between two groups in Banswada, which resulted in minor vandalism and heightened tension.

AIMIM's Concerns and Demands

The delegation highlighted several critical issues arising from the violence:

  • Arrests of Muslims: AIMIM leaders informed the minister that eight Muslims have been arrested in connection with the incident. They appealed for a fair and impartial review of the cases, stressing that innocent individuals should not be harassed and should be released after a proper legal examination.
  • Compensation for Affected Traders: The delegation raised concerns about alleged looting and damage to Muslim-owned shops during the violence. They requested that adequate compensation be provided to the affected traders to help them recover from their losses.
  • Demolition of Masjid-e-Maulana: AIMIM leaders also expressed worry over the reported demolition of Masjid-e-Maulana. They urged the minister to look into this matter with urgency.

Minister's Response and Next Steps

In response, Azharuddin assured the delegation that all raised issues would be examined carefully. He promised that appropriate steps would be taken as per the law to address each concern, ensuring justice and communal harmony are upheld. The minister's commitment underscores the government's proactive approach in handling sensitive communal matters and fostering a peaceful environment in Hyderabad and surrounding regions.
