Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma Visits Tripura Temple, Set for Key Political Talks
Assam CM Sarma in Tripura for Temple Visit, Political Meetings

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma landed in Agartala on Thursday afternoon. He came for a personal trip to visit the Mata Tripura Sundari temple in Udaipur, located in Gomati district.

Warm Welcome and Temple Visit

Upon arrival at MBB Airport, Sarma first went to his hotel. After a brief rest, he started a road journey to Udaipur. The district administration and local BJP leaders organized a warm reception for him at the temple premises.

During his visit, Sarma planned to spend at least two hours at the temple. He intended to return to Agartala by night. Upon his return, he scheduled meetings with Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha and several top BJP leaders.

Political Discussions on the Agenda

Reports indicate that leaders from Tipra Motha are expected to meet with Sarma. Tipra Motha is a member of the Northeast Democratic Alliance (NDA) and an alliance partner of the BJP. The discussions will likely focus on the Tiprasa accord.

Himanta Biswa Sarma played a crucial role in bringing Tipra Motha into the NDA. He also helped form an alliance with the BJP before the last Lok Sabha elections. This move was particularly significant. Tipra founder Pradyot Kishore Debbarman was preparing to field an independent candidate against the BJP in the East Tripura tribal reserved seat at that time.

Sarma's visit blends personal devotion with political engagement. His presence in Tripura highlights ongoing efforts to strengthen alliances in the Northeast. The meetings could shape future political strategies in the region.
