The state government of Andhra Pradesh has officially revised the total damage caused by the recent Cyclone Montha to a staggering Rs 6,384 crore. In response to the widespread devastation, the state has made an urgent appeal to the central government for immediate financial assistance of Rs 900 crore to kickstart relief and rehabilitation efforts.

During a detailed presentation made to an inter-ministerial central team, state officials provided a comprehensive breakdown of the destruction. The cyclone's fury left a significant mark, causing heavy damage across all 24 districts of the state. The scale of the impact underscores the severity of the natural disaster and the challenges facing the region's recovery.
Sectors Suffering Major Losses
The financial assessment reveals that the damage was not confined to a single sector but was multifaceted, crippling critical areas of the state's economy and public infrastructure. Key sectors that bore the brunt of the cyclone's impact include agriculture, horticulture, and fisheries, which are vital for the livelihood of a large portion of the population. Furthermore, significant damage was reported to irrigation systems, public housing projects, and core infrastructure like roads and bridges, hampering connectivity and daily life.
The revised estimate and the urgent request for aid were formally communicated on 10 November 2025. This plea highlights the pressing need for resources to rebuild shattered communities, restore essential services, and help farmers and fishermen get back on their feet after the catastrophic event.
