Villagers Nab EO in the Act

The controversy unfolded at the Sri Gangamma temple in Kadiri, Sri Satya Sai district. On Sunday, villagers reportedly caught the temple's Executive Officer, V Murali Krishna, while he was attempting to illegally take away property belonging to the shrine. The stolen items included precious offerings made by devotees over time.

Alert locals who witnessed the suspicious activity immediately intervened and detained the officer. The incident quickly reached the higher authorities, prompting a strong reaction from the state's leadership.

CM Naidu's Stern Directive and Immediate Fallout

Upon learning of the event, Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu expressed strong displeasure. He emphasized that such actions, which undermine the sanctity of temples and hurt the sentiments of devotees, would not be tolerated under any circumstances. The CM instructed officials to ensure that the culprits face the full force of the law.

Following the CM's orders, Endowments Commissioner Ramachandra Mohan placed Executive Officer V Murali Krishna under suspension with immediate effect. An initial investigation revealed that the stolen temple property included approximately 5 kilograms of silver ornaments, sarees, and various other devotional offerings.

Arrest, Inquiry, and Steps to Secure Temple Assets

The temple department officials formally lodged a complaint with the Kadiri Rural police, leading to the arrest of the suspended executive officer. A thorough inquiry into the entire incident has been initiated to uncover any further lapses or involvement.

To manage the temple's affairs, the Endowments Commissioner has handed over the responsibilities to the Inspector of the Hindupur division, who will hold additional charge until new arrangements are made. Commissioner Ramachandra Mohan has also directed the deputy commissioner to implement stringent measures to secure all temple assets and prevent such disgraceful incidents from occurring in the future.
