AIBSP Demands SIT Probe, Rs 50 Lakh Compensation for Hubballi Honour Killing
AIBSP Demands SIT Probe in Hubballi Honour Killing Case

The All India Bahujan Samaj Party (AIBSP) has issued a strong condemnation following the brutal honour killing of a pregnant woman in Inam Veerapur, Hubballi. The party has called for the harshest punishment for the perpetrators and a swift, transparent investigation into the shocking crime.

AIBSP President's Stern Demands

Addressing the media on Saturday, AIBSP President Marasandra Muniyappa expressed profound anguish over the incident. He insisted that the case must be transferred to a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to ensure a fair and impartial probe. Muniyappa voiced concerns that the case was being diluted, possibly by moving it to the Directorate of Civil Rights Enforcement (DCRE), and stressed that only an SIT could deliver justice.

He outlined a series of immediate demands for the state government and authorities:

  • Immediate transfer of the case to an SIT.
  • Police protection for the victim's Dalit family.
  • Appointment of a special public prosecutor to handle the case.
  • Adequate compensation for the family, including Rs 50 lakh, five acres of land, and a government job for one member.

Criticism of Political and Social Silence

Muniyappa did not mince words in criticizing the lack of response from various quarters. He expressed disappointment that no prominent Basavadi Sharanas had spoken out against the atrocity. He also took aim at Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, as well as the Social Welfare and Home Department ministers, for failing to visit the grieving family or offer them any consolation.

The AIBSP leader further noted that opposition parties had also remained silent on the issue, highlighting a collective failure in providing moral and political support to the victims of caste-based violence.

Ultimatum for Statewide Agitation

Putting the government on notice, Marasandra Muniyappa warned of a statewide agitation if concrete action is not taken within 8 to 15 days. The party's demands are non-negotiable, centering on justice for the victim, security for her family, and substantial compensation to help them rebuild their lives.

The AIBSP's forceful intervention underscores the continuing prevalence of honour killings and caste violence, demanding urgent attention from the administration and civil society alike.
