AIADMK Leader EPS Declares Party Purified Following OPS's Departure to DMK
In a significant political address, AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palanisamy (EPS) stated on Sunday that his party has transformed into a clean and purified movement following the recent exit of former colleague O Panneerselavam (OPS), who joined the rival DMK. Speaking at party rallies in Kanchikoil and Bhavani, EPS positioned himself as the chief ministerial candidate for the AIADMK-led National Democratic Alliance in Tamil Nadu, emphasizing that the upcoming elections will be a decisive moment for the state's governance.
EPS Criticizes Tamil Nadu's Law and Order, Highlights Women's Safety Concerns
During his speeches, EPS drew attention to the deteriorating law and order situation in Tamil Nadu, particularly concerning women's safety. He noted that while International Women's Day was being celebrated globally, a seven-year-old girl was sexually assaulted in Kumarapalayam, Namakkal district. EPS asserted that this incident underscores the lack of security for women under the current administration, calling for urgent reforms to restore safety and order in the state.
Response to OPS's Expulsion and Alliance with DMK
Addressing allegations that he deliberately expelled OPS from the AIADMK, EPS clarified that OPS voluntarily left the party to align with the DMK in an effort to defeat the AIADMK. He reiterated the party's founding principle of opposing the DMK, stating that OPS has now become a member of that very opposition. EPS emphasized that the AIADMK remains committed to its core mission and has emerged stronger and more unified after OPS's departure.
Promises for Future Governance and Infrastructure Development
Looking ahead to the elections, EPS made a key promise to establish a water treatment plant at the SIPCOT industrial area in Perundurai. He pledged that once the AIADMK forms the government, this facility will be implemented to purify waste water, addressing environmental and public health concerns. This commitment is part of a broader vision to enhance infrastructure and governance in Tamil Nadu, focusing on sustainable development and improved living conditions for residents.
