AIADMK Counters Stalin's Allegations of BJP Post-Election Takeover
In a sharp rebuttal, the AIADMK on Sunday responded to Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin's claims that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) would remove AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami from his position following the assembly elections. AIADMK deputy general secretary K P Munusamy asserted that Stalin's remarks stemmed from a "fear of losing the election" and were an attempt to mislead the public.
Munusamy Defends EPS Leadership and Party Legacy
Munusamy emphasized that Edappadi K Palaniswami (EPS) will continue to serve as the party's general secretary, dismissing Stalin's allegations as baseless. He highlighted that EPS's growing support among voters was the real reason behind Stalin's attempts to create confusion. Referring to Stalin's comment that the BJP would "swallow" the AIADMK, Munusamy invoked the party's founding principles, stating, "The AIADMK was created by M G Ramachandran to oppose the DMK and cannot be swallowed by anyone."
He further elaborated on the party's historical stance, noting that MGR and former Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa consistently opposed the DMK, and EPS is steadfastly continuing on this political path. "The movement cannot be destroyed by anyone," Munusamy declared, reinforcing the party's resilience.
Udhayakumar Criticizes OPS and Affirms Party Strength
Former minister R B Udhayakumar also joined the fray, criticizing O Panneerselvam (OPS) for remarks comparing Stalin with former Chief Minister C N Annadurai. Udhayakumar asserted that OPS had "no moral right" to speak about the AIADMK, alleging that OPS had "earned money using Amma's name and was now spending it to support those who wanted to destroy her and the AIADMK."
Reflecting on the party's enduring legacy, Udhayakumar pointed out that the AIADMK, founded by MGR, has survived "conspiracies, betrayals, and challenges" for over five decades and will continue to thrive. He confidently stated that the party, under EPS's leadership, is poised to return to power, adding, "Betrayal has never won."
The AIADMK's strong response underscores the intense political dynamics in Tamil Nadu as elections approach, with leaders firmly defending their positions and legacy against perceived threats from both the DMK and internal dissent.
