The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation's standing committee made several key decisions during its Friday meeting. Members voted to extend the popular flower show at Sabarmati Riverfront by one full week.
Flower Show Gets Extended Run
Originally scheduled to close on January 22nd, the flower exhibition will now remain open until January 29th. The committee cited overwhelming public response as the primary reason for this extension. Visitors have flocked to the Sabarmati Riverfront since the show opened on New Year's Day.
Addressing Traffic Congestion
Committee members turned their attention to Ahmedabad's growing traffic problems during the same session. They issued clear directives for strict action against commercial complexes that fail to provide adequate parking facilities.
The committee specifically targeted establishments that deny visitors access to designated parking spaces. Officials emphasized that such practices contribute significantly to traffic congestion throughout the city.
New Parking Solutions
To alleviate parking difficulties, the committee announced that the Prahladnagar Multilevel Parking facility will open for public use shortly. This new facility represents a concrete step toward solving the city's persistent parking challenges.
Clearing Urban Encroachments
The standing committee also addressed encroachment issues in two specific locations. They directed the civic administration to remove all encroachments in front of the historic Jagannath Temple in Jamalpur.
Additionally, the committee ordered the clearance of illegal encroachments beneath the Jamalpur flyover. These actions form part of broader urban management and traffic improvement measures being implemented across Ahmedabad.
The committee's comprehensive approach demonstrates their commitment to both enhancing public amenities like the flower show and addressing fundamental urban infrastructure challenges simultaneously.
