The victim has been identified as Anshu, a three-year-old boy from Rasoolpur Darehta village. Anshu lived with his mother and four siblings, while his father works in Punjab. According to officials from the police and forest department, the child was lying on a cot in his courtyard, drinking milk, while his mother was busy with household chores nearby.
In a horrifying turn of events, a wolf entered the household premises, grabbed the boy by the neck, and fled into the surrounding area. Family members and alerted villagers gave chase with sticks, but the assailant disappeared into the dense morning fog, hampering rescue efforts.

This attack is not an isolated event but part of a terrifying series. In the past three months alone, wolf attacks in Bahraich district have resulted in at least 13 fatalities and 42 injuries.
