Construction Site Tragedy Claims Young Worker's Life
A devastating construction accident struck Noida on Wednesday, claiming the life of a young labourer and leaving several others injured when a concrete slab suddenly gave way. The incident occurred around 12 pm on November 20, 2025, in Nagla Hukam Singh village under the Rabupura police station limits.
The tragedy unfolded as workers were in the process of removing the shuttering from a newly cast roof on the third floor of an under-construction house. Without warning, the entire slab collapsed, trapping multiple labourers beneath heavy concrete debris in what witnesses described as a sudden, terrifying collapse.
Rescue Operation and Victims
Emergency response teams including State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) personnel, local police, and villagers immediately launched a massive rescue operation. Working against time, they carefully removed debris to reach those trapped beneath the rubble.
The deceased labourer has been identified as Zeeshan, aged 22, from Rawal Patti. According to police statements, he was pulled from the wreckage in critical condition and rushed to a nearby hospital, where he tragically succumbed to his injuries.
Five other workers were successfully rescued from the site and transported to hospital for treatment. The injured have been identified as:
- Danish (21) from Shakarpur, Aligarh
- Fardeen (18) from Rawal Patti
- Shakeel (38) from Rawal Patti
- Kamil (20) from Rawal Patti
- Nadeem (30) from Rawal Patti
Police officials confirmed that several labourers from Madhya Pradesh were also present at the construction site during the incident, though their identities are still being verified.
Investigation Points to Structural Failure
Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Sudhir Kumar from Greater Noida provided crucial insights into the preliminary investigation findings. While the exact cause remains under detailed probe, initial evidence strongly suggests structural weakness as the primary factor behind the catastrophic collapse.
"A detailed inquiry will be conducted to determine whether safety protocols were followed at the construction site," Kumar stated. "The statements of the contractor and the building owner will also be recorded."
In a concerning development, authorities revealed that the building owner, identified as Mahavir Singh, has reportedly gone missing following the incident. Police are actively working to locate him for questioning as part of their investigation into the circumstances that led to the fatal collapse.
The incident has raised serious questions about construction safety standards and regulatory compliance at building sites across the rapidly developing Noida region, highlighting the urgent need for stricter enforcement of safety measures to protect construction workers.
