In a tragic incident in Tuticorin district, the wife and mentally-challenged daughter of a 70-year-old man remained with his dead body for four days at their residence near Eral. Police recovered the decomposed body on Sunday after neighbors alerted them.
Details of the Deceased
The deceased has been identified as Sinivasan, a daily wage worker from JM Nagar in South Valavallan village near Eral. He lived with his wife Asupathy, 68, and their daughter Muthulakshmi, 38.
Neighbors Raise Alarm
On Sunday, neighbors were disturbed by a strong stench emanating from Sinivasan's house. They knocked on the door, and after some time, Asupathy opened it. The neighbors found the decomposed body of Sinivasan and immediately alerted the Eral police.
Police rushed to the spot, recovered the body, and sent it to a nearby government hospital for postmortem. A case has been registered.
Preliminary Postmortem Findings
The preliminary postmortem report suggested no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death. Sinivasan is believed to have died due to age-related illness.
Police stated that Asupathy was traumatized by her husband's sudden death. She did not step out or inform anyone and kept the house locked.
