Urea Truck Seized in Sirsa, BKE Alleges Diversion

The Bharatiya Kisan Ekta (BKE) has alleged that subsidized agricultural-grade urea meant for farmers was being sold as technical-grade urea to industrial units in different states. The union claimed that a private firm operating from Barwala in Panchkula was involved in the diversion.

Sting Operation Reveals Alleged Fraud

BKE state chief Lakhvinder Singh Aulakh stated that the union received information about the illegal activity. In coordination with officials from the Agriculture Department, activists conducted a sting operation. Posing as customers, they allegedly negotiated a deal for 500 bags of urea and paid Rs 20,000 as an advance. After receiving the payment, the supplier shared videos of the bags being loaded onto a truck and demanded the remaining amount.

Seizure of Urea Bags

The BKE members tracked the vehicle, which was intercepted near Moriwala village in Sirsa by Agriculture Department officials and police. Around 500 bags of urea, valued at approximately Rs 9.44 lakh, were seized. Aulakh emphasized that this action was taken to protect farmers' interests and ensure that subsidized fertilizers reach their intended beneficiaries.
