Dhubri: Two persons were killed instantly in high-intensity lightning strikes at two different locations in the Gossaigaon sub-division of Kokrajhar district on Saturday.
First Incident
In the first incident, lightning struck Rafendra Narzary (40) of Jaraguri village while he was ploughing his field. He died on the spot and was discovered by other villagers, who then informed the police.
Second Incident
In the second incident, lightning struck Parana Mardi (50) while he was fishing on the banks of the Sankosh River in Kashiyabari village. The impact caused him to fall into the river.
A source from the Sapkata Police Outpost reported that Mardi's body was later found floating in the river by villagers. After being notified, a police team arrived at the scene and retrieved the body from the river.
Autopsy and Legal Formalities
Both bodies were sent to Kokrajhar for autopsy. After all legal procedures were completed, the bodies were handed over to their respective families, according to a police source.
