Three unidentified individuals have been booked for allegedly setting a parked vehicle on fire in the Haibowal Kalan area of Ludhiana. The incident occurred during the night of May 30 and was captured on CCTV cameras, showing the vehicle being completely gutted within a short period.
Incident Details
The case was registered based on a complaint filed by Mohammad Shakir, a resident of Gaganpreet Vihar in Haibowal Kalan. Shakir stated that he had parked his Mahindra KUV100 in an open plot opposite his residence on the night of May 30. The following morning, he discovered that the vehicle had been set on fire and was completely destroyed.
Police Investigation
According to police investigations, three masked miscreants arrived in a car late at night. CCTV footage shows the suspects stopping near the parked vehicle before carrying out the crime. One of the suspects was seen approaching the vehicle with a container believed to contain an inflammable substance. After some time, the vehicle was engulfed in flames, and the suspects fled the scene in their car.
The fire caused panic among local residents, who rushed out of their homes after noticing the blaze. However, by the time the fire was brought under control, the vehicle had been completely destroyed.
Possible Motive
In his complaint, Shakir stated that he had no enmity with anyone. However, he suspected that the incident could be linked to a business-related rivalry involving his brother-in-law. ASI Makkhan Singh confirmed that a case has been registered under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code, and further investigations are underway to identify and apprehend the suspects.
