The Telangana Public Service Commission (TGPSC) on Monday announced a series of reforms aimed at accelerating recruitment and improving transparency in the examination process. Addressing a press meet, chairman Burra Venkatesham said the commission will release two to three recruitment notifications every month and has already scheduled three notifications for Tuesday.
Monthly Notifications and Vacancies
Venkatesham added that the commission is expected to issue five to six notifications in June. The Finance Department has approved recruitment for around 3,800 vacancies across various departments, including 1,393 Forest Beat Officer (FBO) posts. Recruitment in several categories remains challenging due to the limited number of vacancies. Around 28 categories currently have only one vacancy each, while another 25 categories have fewer than five vacancies.
Shift to Computer-Based Tests
Announcing significant changes to the examination system, Venkatesham said TGPSC is planning to gradually move from the existing OMR-based examinations to computer-based tests (CBT). The present OMR system has become quite complicated. Computer-based examinations offer greater flexibility and efficiency, and question papers can be generated even an hour before the examination. Candidates would be able to know their scores immediately after completing the examination, which would enhance transparency and reduce delays in the recruitment process. The objective is to make recruitment faster, fairer, and more transparent. The chairman advised aspirants to begin preparing for computer-based examinations, as most future recruitment tests are likely to be conducted in the CBT format.
Pratibha Bharati Initiative
In another initiative, TGPSC is set to launch Pratibha Bharati, modelled on the lines of UPSC’s Pratibha Setu programme. Considered a strategic initiative, it allows verified employers, including ministries, PSUs, autonomous bodies, and private organisations, to access details of non-recommended willing candidates who cleared all stages of UPSC exams but did not make it to the final list. The platform will connect highly qualified candidates who narrowly miss final selection lists with private-sector employers, creating additional employment opportunities and enabling companies to access a pool of verified talent.
