The Tamil Nadu Police have launched a comprehensive statewide foot patrol initiative aimed at strengthening law and order, preventing crime, enhancing the safety of women and children, intensifying action against narcotics, and improving visible policing. This initiative involves senior officers from the rank of Station House Officer to Superintendent of Police and Deputy Commissioner of Police.
Directives from DGP
The patrol was undertaken on the instructions of Director General of Police and Head of Police Force Mahesh Kumar Aggarwal. According to police headquarters, the patrols enable senior officers to personally assess conditions in sensitive areas, interact with residents, receive feedback, understand concerns, and initiate immediate corrective measures wherever required.
