Chennai: Senior IPS officer Seema Aggarwal, a 1990 batch officer scheduled to retire on June 30, has been appointed as the chairperson of the state fire commission. This follows the resignation of retired DGP Shankar Jiwal on Wednesday. The order, issued by additional chief secretary K Manivasan, states that she will hold the post for two years, the fixed tenure established by the former government.

Along with Jiwal, three other members — Vikraman, Sathyamurthy, and Namachivayam — who were appointed to the newly created posts by the DMK government in September 2025, also submitted their resignations.

In related appointments, DGP Sandeep Mittal was appointed as the DGP of the Tamil Nadu Uniformed Services Recruitment Board (TNUSRB), while additional director-general of police (ADGP) R Dhinakaran was posted as the ADGP, Armed Reserve.
