Ranchi: Rohitashya Roy, the newly appointed Advocate General of Jharkhand, assumed office on Monday. He was appointed by the state government on June 14. Outgoing Advocate General Rajiv Ranjan formally handed over the charge to Roy in a ceremony at the Advocate General's office.

Resignation of Additional Advocate General

In a related development, additional advocate general Sachin Kumar also resigned from his post, citing personal reasons. His resignation has been accepted by the state government.

Roy's Responsibilities

As Advocate General, Roy will provide legal consultation to the state government and defend it in litigation pending before the Jharkhand High Court. He is a seasoned lawyer with extensive experience in the legal field.

Background of Rohitashya Roy

Chandrajit Mukherjee reports that Roy is a second-generation practicing advocate in the Jharkhand High Court since 2005.
