The Punjab government on Monday launched its statewide 'Mission Clean Punjab' across urban areas of Mohali district, aiming to improve cleanliness and civic infrastructure. Deputy commissioner Komal Mittal led the district-level rollout in Kharar, while Derabassi MLA Kuljit Singh Randhawa flagged off the drive in Derabassi. The campaign will be implemented across all urban local bodies in a phased, mission-mode approach.
Focus Areas of the Mission
Mittal said the initiative focuses on sanitation, functional streetlights, timely sewerage repairs, pothole filling, and faster redress of civic issues. Departments and municipal bodies have been directed to work in coordination, with regular monitoring and field inspections to ensure results.
Government's Commitment
Randhawa said the drive reflects the government's commitment to cleaner and better maintained urban areas, urging residents to actively participate. Local government minister Harjot Singh Bains joined the state-level launch virtually and asked urban bodies to ensure accountability and time-bound execution of works.
Expected Outcomes
The district administration said the mission aims to deliver visible improvements in civic services and urban living standards. Officials emphasized that regular inspections and coordinated efforts among departments will be key to achieving the desired results.
