Panaji: The Corporation of the City of Panaji (CCP) convened a standing committee meeting where councillors and officials assessed ongoing infrastructure projects, public services, environmental readiness, and heritage conservation efforts.
Mayor Rohit Monserrate, who chaired the session, stated, "With the monsoon season under way, significant attention was given to preparedness measures, including the ongoing maintenance of drains and water channels, public infrastructure, and efforts aimed at minimising disruptions during the rainy season."
The meeting's agenda also encompassed plans for ward-wise improvements, enhancement of public spaces in the state capital, heritage-sensitive interventions within the Fontainhas and Campal areas, and projects designed to create better recreational opportunities and facilities for children and youth.
Earlier, Monserrate had met with residents near St Sebastian Chapel in Fontainhas to understand their concerns, particularly regarding tourist disturbances that affect daily life in the historic neighbourhood.
Councillors' concerns were also discussed, notably those raised by former mayor Uday Madkaikar and ward 9 councillor Kabir Pinto Makhija.
The meeting provided a platform to review ongoing ward-level infrastructure works, emerging priorities, and proposals for the city's long-term growth, sustainability, and overall liveability.
Monserrate emphasised that the decisions taken aim to build a "safer, more resilient, and inclusive" capital while addressing immediate concerns identified in every ward.
