NASHIK: The Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) commissioner Manisha Khatri on Thursday announced that all 28 major roads being developed in the city ahead of the Simhastha Kumbh Mela will be completed by the March 2027 deadline.
Details of Road Development
Speaking to reporters from The Times of India and Maharashtra Times during her visit to the TOI office in Nashik, Khatri said that 28 key roads spanning over 150 km are being upgraded at an estimated cost of Rs 1,270 crore as part of the Kumbh infrastructure push.
She stated, "Around 40% of the high-traffic roads are being white-topped, covering stretches from the inner, middle, and outer ring roads in the city, while the remaining roads are being asphalted along with necessary widening."
Utility Ducts and Underground Services
Khatri added that the civic body has created utility ducts to accommodate multiple underground services. According to the civic chief, work on these utility ducts is almost complete, and restoration of stretches dug up for the process is currently underway.
Challenges and Timely Completion
The commissioner acknowledged challenges in making available construction materials but said efforts are on to ensure timely completion of all projects. She added that repair of existing roads across the city would be completed before the onset of the monsoon to minimize inconvenience to residents.
