Mumbai Family Deaths: FDA Rules Out Food Poisoning
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has concluded its investigation into the tragic deaths of three members of a family in Mumbai, finding no traces of contamination in the biryani and watermelon they had consumed. The incident, which occurred in the Malad area, had initially raised suspicions of food poisoning after the family fell severely ill following a meal.
Investigation Details
The FDA team collected samples of the leftover biryani and watermelon from the family's residence and subjected them to rigorous laboratory tests. According to officials, the results showed no presence of harmful substances, pesticides, or bacterial contamination that could have caused the deaths. "We have tested the samples thoroughly, and they are completely safe for consumption. The cause of death is yet to be determined," said a senior FDA officer.
Family Tragedy
The victims have been identified as Ramesh Gupta (45), his wife Sunita (40), and their son Akash (12). They were found unconscious in their home on Monday evening and were rushed to a nearby hospital, where they were declared dead on arrival. The couple's other child, a five-year-old daughter, is currently undergoing treatment and is said to be in stable condition.
Police Investigation Continues
The Mumbai Police have registered an accidental death report and are investigating other possible causes, including gas leak, poisoning from household items, or a medical condition. "We are waiting for the post-mortem reports to ascertain the exact cause of death. Meanwhile, we are questioning neighbors and family members to gather more information," said a police spokesperson.
Community in Shock
The incident has sent shockwaves through the local community, with residents expressing grief and confusion. "They were a happy family. We never expected something like this to happen," said a neighbor. The FDA has reassured the public that there is no need to panic, as the food items in question have been cleared. However, authorities advise caution and urge citizens to report any suspicious food-related illnesses immediately.
As the investigation unfolds, the family awaits answers, and the city mourns the loss of three lives under mysterious circumstances.
