In a significant move to ensure the smooth conduct of competitive examinations, the Ludhiana district administration has imposed strict restrictions around key examination centers for this weekend's UPSC recruitment test.
Security Measures for UPSC Examination
District Magistrate Himanshu Jain has invoked special powers under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023 to prohibit the assembly of five or more persons near nine designated examination centers. This prohibitory order will remain in effect throughout the examination day on Sunday, November 30, from 6 am to 8 pm.
The security restrictions apply within a 100-meter radius of all nine examination centers, creating a secure buffer zone around these sensitive locations. However, the administration has clarified that the order specifically exempts candidates appearing for the examination, authorized invigilators, supervisory staff, and officials performing examination duties.
Designated Examination Centers Under Security Cover
The district administration has identified nine educational institutions in Ludhiana that will serve as examination centers for the prestigious UPSC Combined Recruitment Test. These centers include:
- SCD Govt College (PTA Building, Block-B)
- SCD Govt College (Commerce Building, Block-D)
- SCD Govt College (Old Building, Block-A)
- SDP College For Women, Daresi Road
- Khalsa College For Women, Civil Lines, Ghumar Mandi
- Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College (MBA Block), Gill Park
- DAV Public School, Bhai Randhir Singh Nagar
- Bharatiya Vidya Mandir Senior Secondary School, Kitchlu Nagar
- MGM Public School, Urban Estate, Phase-1
Ensuring Fair Examination Process
District Magistrate Himanshu Jain emphasized that these security measures are essential for the smooth and successful conduct of the UPSC Combined Recruitment Test. The examination is being conducted for recruitment to the important positions of Enforcement Officer/Accounts Officer (EPFO) and Assistant Provident Fund Commissioner (APFC).
Any person found violating this prohibitory order will face strict legal action under the applicable laws, the administration has warned. This move comes as part of standard security protocols for high-stakes competitive examinations to prevent any potential disruptions or malpractices.
The timing of the restrictions covers the entire duration of the examination process, from the arrival of candidates in the morning until the completion of all examination formalities in the evening. This comprehensive security arrangement aims to provide candidates with a disturbance-free environment to perform at their best.
