Lucknow Development Authority Unveils Rs 10 Crore Interactive Aviary Project
The Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) has announced an ambitious plan to develop an interactive aviary at the Gomti Biodiversity Park in Gomtinagar, with an estimated cost of Rs 10 crore. This initiative aims to transform the city's green landscape while fostering a deeper connection between residents and nature.
What is an Aviary and How Will It Benefit Birds?
Officials explain that an aviary is a large, mesh-covered structure designed to house birds in a more open and natural environment. Unlike traditional cages, this setup allows birds to fly freely and exhibit their natural behaviors. The aviary will feature trees, water bodies, and resting areas to ensure the comfort and well-being of the avian inhabitants.
Special attention will be given to the health, safety, and protection of the birds under expert supervision, ensuring they thrive in this carefully curated habitat.
Project Scope and Expected Impact
The aviary will be spread over nearly one acre and is poised to become one of the major attractions at the Gomti Biodiversity Park. Once completed, it will offer city residents, children, students, and tourists a unique opportunity to observe a wide range of Indian and foreign bird species in one location.
Visitors will be able to witness birds' natural behavior, flying patterns, and habitat from close quarters, making the aviary an invaluable resource for educational tours and research activities.
Beyond Tourism: A Focus on Conservation and Awareness
According to LDA officials, the project is not limited to boosting tourism alone. It will also play a crucial role in biodiversity conservation. The initiative is expected to raise public awareness about nature and wildlife conservation, encouraging a more environmentally conscious community.
LDA vice-chairperson Prathamesh Kumar emphasized that the design, technical aspects, and safety standards of the aviary are currently being finalized. "The aviary will be developed at a cost of Rs 10 crore and will soon emerge as a key attraction of the biodiversity park. It will help connect people with nature," he stated.
This project underscores Lucknow's commitment to enhancing its urban green spaces while promoting ecological education and conservation efforts.
