Himachal govt grants full salary on study leave

The Himachal Pradesh government has decided to grant full salary to employees pursuing higher education on study leave during their service. Earlier, employees on study leave received only 40% of their basic pay along with Dearness Allowance (DA) and House Rent Allowance (HRA).

Amendment to Leave Rules

The government has now amended Rule 56 of the CCS (Leave) Rules, 1972, allowing employees to draw full salary during the study period. Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu stated that the enhanced benefit would motivate employees to pursue advanced education and acquire specialized skills, ultimately improving the quality of public services and strengthening the overall functioning of government departments.

Conditions for Availing Benefit

To avail the benefit, employees will be required to submit an undertaking stating that they are not receiving any scholarship, stipend, or remuneration from part-time employment during the study period. The government had earlier restored full salary during study leave for allopathy doctors pursuing higher and specialized courses.
