Hisar: Haryana cabinet minister Mahipal Dhanda has ordered a fresh investigation after a stubble trader from Gurana village broke down before him, alleging that a case involving the destruction of stubble worth Rs 60 lakh was deliberately suppressed. The incident came to light during a District Public Grievances Committee meeting in the newly created Hansi district on Friday.
Trader's Ordeal
Surendra, the aggrieved trader, narrated his ordeal during the meeting. He alleged that paddy stubble worth nearly Rs 60 lakh was set ablaze by some individuals due to personal enmity, causing him substantial financial losses. Surendra claimed that he submitted video evidence and details of witnesses to the police, but no action was taken. When Minister Dhanda sought a status report, Superintendent of Police Vinod Kumar replied that an initial inquiry concluded the fire was caused by sparks from overhead electricity wires. However, the minister directed the police to conduct a fresh investigation into the matter.
Other Complaints Addressed
The meeting, chaired by Dhanda, heard a total of 10 complaints. Seven were disposed of on the spot, while three were kept pending for further action. Another issue raised during the meeting concerned alleged drug trafficking near a government school in Bhatol village. Village sarpanch Devendra Lamba claimed that narcotics were being openly sold despite repeated complaints to the authorities. Responding to the allegations, Deputy Superintendent of Police Ravindra Sangwan said police recently conducted a special search operation in the area with the assistance of a dog squad and took action in cases involving the seizure of 63 kg of contraband.
Family of Martyr Seeks Justice
The parents of martyr Nishant Malik also attended the hearing and alleged that they were assaulted during a family dispute and not provided adequate support by the police. Dhanda instructed officials to ensure that the family was not subjected to harassment. The minister's intervention has brought hope to the complainants that their grievances will be addressed promptly.
