Girl Dies After Mud Wall Collapse in Sambalpur

A tragic incident occurred in Sambalpur district on Friday, where a six-year-old girl lost her life after a dilapidated mud wall collapsed on her while she was playing. The incident took place in Jarabaga village, which falls under the Mahulpali police station limits in Bamra block.

Details of the Incident

The deceased, identified as Roli, was the daughter of Prabhakar Bag. She was playing near the house of one Manjil Patel along with his five-year-old son, Mayank. According to Kuchinda SDPO Pradeep Das, the wall suddenly collapsed while the children were playing nearby. Mayank managed to escape unhurt, but Roli was trapped under the debris.

Rescue and Medical Response

Upon hearing the cries of the children, family members and villagers rushed to the spot. They worked quickly to pull Roli out from under the debris. She was immediately taken to the Kuchinda sub-divisional hospital in a critical condition. However, doctors at the hospital declared her brought dead upon arrival.

Police Investigation

The Mahulpali police have initiated a probe into the incident to ascertain the circumstances that led to the collapse of the wall. They are investigating whether the wall was in a dilapidated condition and if any negligence was involved.

This tragic event has left the village in mourning, with residents demanding stricter safety measures to prevent such accidents in the future.
