Residents and daily commuters in Thane are in for a prolonged period of travel disruption as major traffic snarls on the crucial Ghodbunder Road are expected to persist for at least another week. The congestion is a direct result of several civic and utility projects being carried out at the same time across important stretches connecting Manpada, Patlipada, and Ovala.
Multiple Projects Cause Extended Congestion
The simultaneous execution of various infrastructure upgrades has turned key sections of Ghodbunder Road into a commuter's nightmare. Authorities have indicated that the situation will not see immediate relief. Particularly, the service road concretisation work near Gaimukh is a significant contributor to the snarls, and this specific project is scheduled to continue until the end of December.
Traffic Police Suggest Alternative Routes
In light of the severe congestion, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Pankaj Shirsat has actively advised motorists to avoid the main affected stretches by using internal roads. He provided specific diversion plans to help people navigate around the bottlenecks.
For those caught in the congestion, DCP Shirsat recommends using the internal network via Patlipada-Kasarvadavali-Hiranandani. Another viable option is the route from Kapur Bawdi to Dhokali and then to Hiranandani Estate.
Commuters whose destination is Manpada can consider taking the Gandhi Nagar to Vasant Vihar internal route to bypass the worst of the traffic. The traffic police official assured the public that the situation will improve significantly once the ongoing work is completed.
Commuters Urged to Plan Ahead
The extended timeline for these projects means that the daily travel hassle for thousands is far from over. The advice from authorities is clear: planning and patience are essential. Utilizing the suggested internal diversions is currently the most effective way to save time and avoid getting stuck in long queues.
While the infrastructure upgrades are necessary for long-term improvement, their concurrent execution has created short-term pain for Thane's commuting population. Residents are hoping for a swift and smooth completion of all works to finally restore normal traffic flow on Ghodbunder Road.
