Fugitive Arrested After 13 Years in Udupi

Udupi: An accused who had been evading court trials for about 13 years was arrested by Malpe police on Thursday. The accused, identified as Madhu alias Umesh, a resident of Bidaganahalli village in Channarayapatna, Hassan district, was apprehended in a early morning operation.

Details of the Arrest

Head constable Vishwanath H and constable Mohammed Rafi arrested Madhu from Channarayapatna around 6 am. The arrest was made based on a warrant issued in connection with a case registered in 2013.

Charges Against the Accused

Madhu was booked under Sections 457 (lurking house-trespass by night) and 380 (theft in dwelling house), read with Section 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of the Indian Penal Code. The case dates back to 2013, and the accused had been absconding since then.

Legal Proceedings

After the arrest, the accused was produced before the court and remanded in judicial custody. The police have requested the court to take necessary action against the absconder.
